- Scope and ContentIn London it is believed that an invasion is to be expected. The writer is anxious about Mrs Philip Yorke [Anna] in Colchester; she has promised to set out for Ely with her two sons the moment the red flag (the signal for the enemy being in sight) is set up - she will not leave her husband sooner. Jemima Pole-Carew is concerned for her son Joseph - his parents have agreed for him pursue his passion for the sea service. When in London accepted an invitation from Mr Buller to go in one of his custom house boats down the Thames to see the West India Docks.
