[Appears to be a member of the Cocks family.] Lord Abercorn is recovering very fast, but the fracture of one leg was so bad it is thought he might have lost the limb if the surgeon had not been so immediately called to his assistance. [He was thrown from a phaeton.] Christopher Beauchamp arrived two days ago after having escorted Mrs [Agneta] Yorke to Bath. Comments relating to Agneta Yorke's furure plans. 'The Captian [Joseph Sydney Yorke?] has built 'a very pretty box' within 2 miles of her which has cost him near £400. Speculation about the King visiting Bath. Brief comments about Lady Hardwicke [Elizabeth Yorke] Governor [William] Dowdeswell looks 'much relaxed and weakened and considerably older for his hot residence in the Bahamas and his Spanish captivity. He was at Bilbao, where the prisoners were very civil. This did not extend to the sailors; he was bringing two peacocks home for his new sister in law, but the sailors wrung their necks and ate them for supper.
