- Scope and ContentFamily all healthy. Son Philip looks well after his tour; he felt the slight shock of an earthquake at Salisbury which shook the room and the soot down the chimney. Old Mr Waddington has been prevailed upon to sign his name to the Eau Brink Canal [a cut created on the river Great Ouse, on the great bend in the river above King's Lynn. Eau Brink Act was obtained in 1795 to authorise it]. Health of Mr Plumptre the clergyman, who it seems has had a stroke. Mrs Plumptre and her daughters, all but the eldest, have forsaken the mother church and go only to the dissenters meetings. Thomas Waddington is just made prebendary of Ely and resigns the living at Wimpole.
