Letter from Mary Yorke to Lady Polwarth. The Bishop has given out his advertisement for three public days in June. Daughter Margaret Waddington and family have left to spend the summer at Wimpole.

Hopes to contrive to see Lady Grey during the summer. Mention of Miss [Caroline] Yorke and her future prospects [marriage to John Eliot, later 1st Earl of St. Germans]. Reference to marriage settlement. Possible visit of Lady Polwarth to Tunbridge. Question realting to legacy of Lord Hardwicke. Has looked out three more pairs of sheets to complete the set; they are even better than the last. Encloses a poem by a friend of writers daughter [present]. Son Charles has recounted a story from Cambridge regarding a son of Lord Mountstuart who stabbed a young woman in the breast. It is supposed she will recover and he has been dismissed from college. Charles described him as a well behaved pleasant tempered man in general, but with a sour, forbidding look and lame in one foot. Asks whether mourning for Lord Hardwicke lasts 3 months or 6. Enclosed sheet 'Elergy on the death of G Gardner Esq.' by 'William H. a college friend.
