    Having had so recently had the favour of a living granted to son in law Thomas Waddington, the Bishop feels he cannot apply to the same quarter for his son. Begs to be informed of the value and situation of the late Mr Bland's living, and the sort of house. [Thomas Bland was the rector of Myland St Michael, Mile End near Colchester]. If Charles wishes to proceed further, he must apply to Lady Grey himself. 'Charles is an amiable youth and possesses qualities of the head and heart which may do him credit, but there is a little indolence in his disposition...'
