Legacies of the writer's mother [Elizabeth Maddox] will take all her ready money that she had in the funds, so that the disposal of a daughter and the house in Upper Brook Street must still be connected. The bishop expects proposals from a young man now at Cambridge, 'but the dear girl assures me she is determined to refuse him, so happily neither you or I have anything to fear.'
