- Scope and ContentThanks to Lady Grey for partridges sent to the writer's mother when her daughter was her housekeeper in London. Sir Thomas Trollop is talked of for one of the Miss Hattons. A company of players talked of erecting their theatre in one of the large rooms of an inn in Ely, and were encouraged by Mrs Cole and other ladies of the town. 'It would have been a very ruinous thing in this poor place for all the lower ranks, this the Bishop just hinted to the magistrates...' Mention of Mrs Carew - 'I hear she intends to suckle this baby likewise, and sincerely hope she will find less trouble than last year.' [reference to Jemima Pole-Carew and daughter Charlotte Jemima]
