Has learnt a piece of family history regarding Mr Cooper, 'our poet.' He is a bachelor, and the old lady who lives with him and takes care of him does it out of gratitude for the pains and care he took in the education of her two sons. 'They are the boys named as I suppose for his.'

    Mention of the death of Lady Eliot [Harriot, wife of Edward James Eliot and daughter of William Pitt] so soon after that of Lady Graham [Jemima Elizabeth Graham, nee Ashburnham, daughter of daughter of John Ashburnham, 2nd Earl of Ashburnham]. Wishes to enquire after Christine, an old servant of Sir Joseph Yorke, who has been suffering with ague just after she was 'brought to bed' having had a very bad time. With regard to annuities, a good life of 40 years will bring a years purchace of perhaps 9%. Requests Lady Polwarth send the prayer fro Sunday Schools.
