  • Title
Letter from Mary Yorke to Lady Amabel Polwarth. Thanks for the information relating to the 'slip slop' Mrs Evans, who the writer may have taken, had she not already have been engaged. At present is not particularly inconvenienced being without such a servant, but would be obliged to anyone that would recommend one.

  • Scope and Content
The Bishop hopes to be in town on about a fortnight, and will be accompanied by the boys, who together with the gentleman of the Warwickshire militia who are quartered at Lincoln for the winter will make the place very gay; at least the young ladies will not want for partners at balls. Sir Thomas and Lady Clarges have come to Lincoln; the writer is to meet them at a dinner today. [Sir Thomas Clarges, 3rd Baronet, who was elected Member of Parliament for Lincoln at the 1780 general election and wife Louisa] Death of 'our poor postillion'
