Duke decided to proceed with public house at Bedford Station, but not to proceed at Ridgmont. Writer thinks the final decision at Ridgmont should depend on whether Norris makes proper accommodation for the public, and also on his tenant's conducting it in an orderly way. "From the sort of Tenant now there, it is not at all an unlikely place to become a rendezvous of poachers & from whence some of the Park Pheasants may find their way to Leadenhall." Has been over to Houghton Regis with the new vicar to look at the glebe land. The Squire was at home and very civil - hopes his deeds will bear out his words. Mr Wilson will have hard work and a very small emolument. His predecessor died insolvent. A new parsonage should be built; writer will have the house examined by a surveyor and send the report to the Duke for advice and assistance. [2 sheets]
