- Scope and Content2. Endorsed on 1 September 1877 with reconveyance of the property between (i) George Bailey, (ii) Charles Washington Seabrook of Luton, corn merchant, and Luke Dennis Smith of Chancery Lane articled clerk to a solicitor, and (iii) Mary Ann Hipgrave, ginger beer and soda water manufacturer. Recites previous events: - death of James Burgess on 2 March 1871, will and probate [see Z1337/5/6] - marriage of widow Mary Ann Burgess to William Hipgrave of Barton in the Clay - deed of separation dated 28 May 1875 between (i) William Hipgrave; (ii) Mary Ann Hipgrave, and (iii) Charles Washington Seabrook and Luke Dennis Smith due to "unhappy differences" between the couple. On application for separation Mary Ann Hipgrave to pay to William Hipgrave £50, with further £250 to be paid to him on signing of the deed of separation. Property conveyed to Seabrook and Smith in trust for Mary Ann Hipgrave. Repayments made by Mary Ann Hipgrave, beneficiary and executrix of James Burgess, in three instalments: £100 on 22 July 1874; £200 on 3 October 1876; and £100 on 25 May 1877.
