  • Scope and Content
A handwritten letter from Prince Henry Emiko in Nigeria to Honora Grimmer (addressed from the Motor Engineering Section of the Government Technical College in Sapele): "My dear Honora, I was just thinking of you while your interesting letter came to me this morning as a response to my previous one. It is absolutely kind of you to think of writing me so soon, being my missive to you was a surface mail. I am still lucky to get yours myself for our holidays is not at hand. The school has a systematical type of vacation. We have three months of vacation to a year, nine good months for studies, so I am breaking up in January 1958. Despite this we have extra weeks for Easter and Xmas holidays. Do you like to hear about the environments of our school? We have series of weathers in Nigeria mostly in our part. At present it rains a lot, but shortly we will be in Dry season. Yes I heard of Boy Scouts and Girl Guides camps. Respective delegates of both groups have gone to represent Nigeria at the anniversary for the centenary. I am grateful to your offer of sending me the stamps so issued. Do you mean Rosemary is on her vacation leave? If so, I am no surprise for her not responsing my missive to her. I am happy to hear from you that your three younger nephews do collect stamps. Tell them that I have a little pack of them but not quite enough for sending. My next letter to you will have quantity and quality stamps to them. I wish to know their names. Let them just have these stamps for the main time. More next time. I am much in anxiety to send you my photo but I have not taken one. Despite this I will send you one soon if the rainy season is over as it rains in most cases for about five to six consecutive days without stopping. Anyway I wouldn't mind sending you one as a standby for the time being. I shall be celebrating my sixteenth birthday on August 20th this year. Of which if I like go home or at the compound. I believe you are enjoying your holidays. You would like visiting the sea or the whitish sandy shores wouldn't you? Greetings, Yours sincerely, Prince H Adano Emiko"
