  • Scope and Content
A handwritten letter from Prince Henry Emiko in Nigeria to Honora Grimmer (this letter is addressed from the Motor Engineering Section of the Government Technical College in Sapele): "Dear Honora, Your letter reached me this afternoon just as I was preparing for lunch. The newspapers therein gave me detail account about the coach. Thank you. Referring to movements, you know am novice to movements. I cannot just know the better one, but in any aspect I shall try and enroll as a Sea-Scout because I am interesting in swimming and going ashore. Yes I am lucky to be training as a motor engineer. And I am making good remarks. The period of course is four years. I shall have a certificate but not yet a diploma. It is only if God permits, I can come to U.K. to be qualified. For your information I have written Rosemary, we have written each other three times. I enjoyed her as well as she do I think. And I think over us to be a good lovely pen-pals. Thank you once more for your picture you sent me. You said a "tiny" photograph, never mind how small but it is mega on my part. I enjoyed it with my co students, but I expect more of that. Today is very cool as does this time, people seemed to be indoors mostly in the southern provinces. Greet Andrew for me, how old is he. I think he is doing well. How is Daddy and Mummy as well as to other relatives. Any way all is good. I know this is a funny letter, forgive me, better next time. The head of my pen is bending as I am dropping it slowly to the table. Bye bye for now. Yours sincerely, Emiko"
