    ‘The only man tried yesterday was found guilty and the execution followed this morning.’ There had been concern that a jury would be afraid or unwilling to condemn the offender. There was no tumult during the trial or the execution, which took place in Thomas Street. Other culprits have been condemned today. [Robert] Emmett will not be tried for some days. Sends the paper containing the best account of the Attorney General’s speech (L30/11/329/22?) [Note: Attorney General Standish O'Grady, 1st Viscount Guillamore [Who became attorney general on 10 June 1803, after the murder of Lord Kilwarden during the rebellion]. He was one of the prosecuting counsel at the trial of Robert Emmet.] Mention in postscript of Mrs [Anne] Jones, the sister of Lady Clomel and Lady Rossmore, wife of Theophilus.
