- Scope and Content[Robert] Emmett is just taken [leader of Irish rebellion of 1803] ‘It is thought most important, as he was supposed to be the ‘master mover’ in this business; he is younger brother to the Emmett who was banished with O’Connor.’ The commission for trying the rebels opened today, but according to form in such cases, is put off by them for 6 days; only 16 are at present indicted, but writer supposes many more will be tried – some of the most consequential are not in the first list. All continues quiet; pray do not believe the reports that are currently in the papers.
