    Writer has been unwell, having brought an extremely bad cold from Harwich, followed by a bowel compliant, ‘my stock of strength has been rather diminished.’ Lady Lucas is kind in proposing a winter visit to Wimpole, but ‘we mean ourselves to be in London in December.’ The whole of this month and half the next is appropriated by Mr Bianchi, and Italian singing master ‘who luckily understands neither English nor French very readily though enough to get what he wants and to understand when he is spoken to.’ ‘I am much obliged to you for conveying the information of Mrs Philip Yorke’s safe delivery – but alas the same post brought me a note from Lady Somers announcing the death of the poor little child..’ [Relates to a child of Rev Philip Yorke and his wife, Anne Maria, nee Cocks, daughter of Charles Cocks, 1st Lord Sommers].
