    Reference to some confusion, seemingly relating to winners in a raffle or similar, where it appears the prize might be a drawing by Callender. It was a disappointment not to see Mrs Carew, the effect and the cause being both to be regretted. Death of Soame Jenyns [writer, died 18 Dec 1787]. It will be a melancholy life for Mrs Jenyns without him. My Mother [Anne Lindsay] set out early this morning – it is a long journey at this season, but she minds it wonderfully little.
