- Scope and ContentA handwritten letter from Fred Wheeler at Claridges Lane, Ampthill to Honora and Lily Grimmer: "First I will say I was pleased to hear you were both very well which I was pleased about. I know I should have made a visit to you but really I have not been fit. Not been down in Ampthill for over six months. My son-in-law drove me up to the cemetery to visit my wife's grave. At the grave of your mother and father I could see Miss Lily doing her best to keep it. I would love to be able to go up there with my tools and hear the cuckoo over there in the folly. I am very shaky and have to be careful in walking or I could go over. My arthritis is now my .... My sight not too good but thank God as I am. If only our town was like it used to be when we were younger. It would help a lot. Thank you both for your Christmas gift and all the past ones. I hope you are able to get the garden done and that you are comfortable there. My daughter Sybil's home for Christmas and we both thank you and hope above all you have happy times to come. Thank you and God bless you both. Yours gratefully, Fred Wheeler"
