Scope and Content
Collection of teaching records compiled by Honora Grimmer:
a) Loose pages from a teaching record book filled with planning notes, ideas and schemes of work for teaching including some physical exercises (not clear if these were for the teacher or the pupils). Includes proposed syllabuses for each topic by class group setting out tasks and their intended learning outcome. A note that the names of refugee children should be included in a separate group in the class register. An examination schedule in the topics of number, reading, writing, dictation, composition and drawing. Covers the school year September 1940 to July 1941.
b) A Bedfordshire Education Committee Syllabus and Record Book (No. 6) for Ampthill Church of England School, completed for the Lower Infants Class for the school year ending 31st August 1949. Fewer completed prepatory notes than loose pages above but Record of Work pages completed for whole school year.
c) A Bedfordshire Education Committee Syllabus and Record Book (No. 6) for Ampthill Church of England School, completed for the Infants Class for the school year ending 31st August 1950. Record of Work pages completed for whole school year.
d) A Bedfordshire Education Committee Syllabus and Record Book (No. 6) for Ampthill Church of England School, completed for the Infants Class for the school year ending 31st August 1951. Record of Work pages completed for whole school year.
e) A Bedfordshire Education Committee Syllabus and Record Book (No. 6) for Ampthill Church of England School, completed for the Top Infants Class for the school year ending 31st August 1952. Record of Work pages completed for whole school year. Book covered in brown paper. Note in the back that school attendance down that year owing to measles. Some music lesson notes in the Memoranda section.
f) A hardback record book covered in brown paper with Record of Work pages completed for the school year ending July 1953.
g) A Bedfordshire Education Committee Syllabus and Record Book (No. 6) for Russell School, completed for the Junior Class V for the school year ending 31st August 1964. As well as Record of Work pages for the whole school year, there are prepatory notes and examination schedules, some for the preceding years 1962 and 1963.
