Understands that Lord Grantham has taken a house in Brighton for the winter; it will be very gay and grand if the reports are true that the Royals spend their Christmas hyolidays there. Reference to books the writer has read recently; has read one by Mr James, and wonders is he is a son of Sir Walter James who married Lady Jane, sisiter of Lord Campden. Reference of grandson Charles serving on the ship HMS Leviathan, and anecdotes about the Princess of Wales, who was aboard for 6 weeks.
