    Information of George Beck of Ampthill, apprentice to Samuel May, draper and grocer: John Newell of Silsoe came to May & Wise's shop at Ampthill for groceries for William Henry Haytread of Fielden, Flitton, which he took away. Information of John Pilkington Wise "of the firm of May & Wise" (affirms as a Quaker): Haytread queried a bill saying there were articles he had not ordered or received. These were those Newell had fetched. Information of William Henry Haytread: "never in my life sent him (Newell) on any errand".
