- Production dateFrom: 1819 To: 1819
- Scope and ContentWriter's niece is not to accompany Mrs James Yorke to Town and will stay a little longer in Bath before visiting the Broomes at Forthampton. It is not certain whether her brother will take the good living which Lord St.Germans has offered him, for the parsonage house is in so wretched a state that it cannot even be repaired, and it would not suit William's pocket to rebuild it for so limited a t term as he is likely to hold it. Mention of an auction of possessions of the late Queen; the writer would like to bid, but 'meat and drink is of more consequence.' The writer has read the publication by Captain Ross about his expedition counter-clockwise around Baffin Bay. Captain Parry who is to succeed him, is on the point of sailing. [Relates to Arctic exploration]. Reference to other things the writer has read. The writer no longer goes to plays or any public place or amusement; her ony gaiety consists of entertaining ladies round the tea table between 7 and 10 pm with a game of sixpenny Loo or Shilling casino.
