- Scope and ContentLaments the death of 'our venerable Queen' [Queen Charlotte died 17 November 1818]. Is glad to hear that the Princess Augusta got Frogmore. Reference to a strange story of the King's jewels being lost; some say the Regent purloined them, but the writer does not believe this, 'there are people enough about their poor blind master to be suspected with more reason.' Asks if Countess de Grey has seen Mrs [Sarah] West, who sets herself up as a rival to Miss [Elizabeth] O'Neil. 'She made her debut on this stage and acted here for two or three seasons.' The writer thought her detestable. Wonders if there is any truth in the removal of Charles Stuart from his embassy to make room for Lord Harrowby. Miss Beauchamp is stating with the writer, and will remain all winter.
