Mention of the illness of Lord Grantham's little boy 'it would be a sad affliction indeed if he was to lose a second son.' [A first son, Thomas Philip, was born Aug 22 1807 and died 31 March 1810]. Amused by Lady Lucas' description of the fete at Newby. Mrs James Yorke is coming to stay after Christmas. Has heard from Lady Caledon [Lady Catherine Yorke, daughter of Philip Yorke, 3rd Earl of Hardwicke married Du Pre Alexander, 2nd Earl of Caledon on 6 October 1811] 'she seems delighted with all about her, and particularly with her choice..' Reference to current affairs - 'What do think you of the good Catholics and their adherents in Ireland - of the acquittal of Dr. Sheridan and the onsolence of the mob afterwards?' Mention of Mrs [Sarah] Siddons and Mrs [Dorothea] Jordan.
