  • Title
    Information of William Cunnington of Keysoe, constable; had a prisoner in his custody in a public house in Thurleigh, when Samuel Colgrave asked if he could speak with the prisoner in another room. When this was refused, Colgrave struck him in the face and said "he would do for me if it is for seven or fourteen years to come, and would finish the whole Parrish & all it had got, and there should not be left so much as a grasshopper in it, & I wish my bloody crew would come from Bedford & there should not be one left in this house". Information of James Pestell of Little Staughton, constable: with Cunnington, had Robert Newell in custody, also struck by Colgrave when he refused to let him talk to Newell privately. Information of Robert Favil of Thurleigh, constable: was sent for and found Colgrave on his back with the constable endeavouring to handcuff him - "He got up and we wish'd him to sit down but he would not, when we forced him down he said he would do for Cunnington... and would finish the whole parish".
