- Scope and ContentMention of Lord Chatham, and whether he might give writer's son Joseph a promotion. Mr & Mrs Eliot [daughter Caroline and husband John Eliot, 1st Earl of St.Germans] are serttled in Town for the winter. Reference to 'my other daughter', (presumably Harriott [nee Manningham] who was married to harles Philip Yorke on 1 July 1790). The writer hopes her health will mend, as Charles 'must otherwise be very unhappy to see one he loves so much continually indisposed and in danger of a decline. The writer understands she is well again, and does not thnk she has miscarried. Has been to the Fleet and dined on board the Victory 'we sat down 28 at a long table in a room 40 feet long and 20 wide.'
