Comments on the Berkhamsted Ball, which was 'wearisome'. Death of Dr Plumptre. Mentions a scandal from The Hague relating to Sir Joseph; the writer hears that 'Mr B went at 2 o'clock in the morning to his house to enquire for his wife, who had gone from the play with her lover to [Scheveningen?] and from thence in a fishing boat to England.'
