Has been reading Lady Polwarth's 'dramatick performance.' Has copied the chorus's. Mention of bad weather, rain and wind. Mention of Lady Polwarth's description of the Tunbridge Strollers. 'I find from Lady Beauchamp's letters that the plot there begins to thicken; and she threatens me that if I go down next week I shall get no lodging, or even a single bed. Notwithstanding all the riot this must occasion, she does not seem to grow more reconciled to the place which mortifies me extemeely, because I recommended it so strongly.' The writer made her congratulatory visit to Russel Farm and found the old lady and the young ones highly pleased with the match. Refers to the death of Catherine Douglas, Duchess of Queensberry; the old Duke is inconsolable and the Duchess has made no Will. Lady Mary Forbes is greatly shocked.
