    Thinks it probable that Elizabeth Gillman will be elected next January [to the deaf & dumb asylum]. If she is not elected then, she will be superannuated. It seems to be the custom for the governors to make a point of electing those who if not chosen at the time of election would be superannuated. Lady Lucas has one vote only; Mr Ware has one vote, and perhaps by exertion 200-300 votes might be got for a child not of an age to be superannuated, but Mr Ware believes that less than 1000 votes would not afford any chance.
