  • Date free text
    10 Jul 1814
  • Production date
    From: 1814 To: 1814
  • Scope and Content
Informs that neither Elizabeth Gillman nor John Gordon for whom Mrs Charles Yorke interested herself succeeded at the late election at the deaf and dumb charity [London Asylum for the Deaf and Dumb]; the child whose election was last on the list had 1500 votes, from which it can be seen how difficult it must be to get a child into the charity until it has attained the age when it would be superannuated if not chosen. Sixteen were chosen out of 82 candidates. In July 1816 Elizabeth Gillman may perhaps be chosen. Reference to receipt for Mrs Brazier's half year's annuity.
