    - to be interred in Shephall church or its chancel “without any unnecessary and vain expenses”; - devising his manors of Hollowell and Langford and real estate in Holwell, Shillington, Arlesey, Stotfold, Henlow, Astwick, Langford, Clifton and Biggleswade in occupations of Thomas Crouch, Stephen Woodfield, John Impey, William Waldocke, John Arnold and Abraham Hughes along with two messuages in Bengeo [Hertfordshire] and Standon [Hertfordshire] in occupation of William Clerke and Widow Smith to his two youngest sons Thomas and John and three youngest daughters Rebecca, Jane and Ann unless his eldest son George paid £1,000 each to John, Rebecca, Jane and Ann and £500 to Thomas (who had already had £500), in which case the real estate should be devised to George; - revoking a demise of 1 December 1680 made with Thomas Coppin of Acton [Middlesex], esquire, George Nodes of Southill, gentleman and George Draper of Hitchin [Hertfordshire], gentleman; - charging the remainder of his estate with payment of debts and devising it to his son George requiring him to settle the Manor of Shephall on himself for life remainder in tail male, in default remainder to testator’s son Thomas , in default to testator’s son John; George to allow interest quarterly to his siblings on their legacies; - “and as for the rest of my children not hereinbefore named I have already given them large and plentiful portions desiring God Almighty His Blessing upon them and the rest of my said children commanding them all to live in the fear of God and in love to each other”; - bequeathing £20 to trustees for the poor of Shephall; - bequeathing £5 to be distributed among the poor of Shephall; - bequeathing £3 to the poor of Stevenage [Hertfordshire] and £3 to the poor of Graveley [Hertfordshire]; - directing his executor to perform the will of the testator’s late mother and to pay legacies in her will; - directing his executor to take care of subsistence for the testator’s cousin Edward Peed according to the desire of the testator’s late mother; - bequeathing 3 guineas to his friend and neighbour Mr Wilmer, minister of Shephall; - bequeathing £5 to his cousin Charles Pendleton’s wife; - bequeathing £3 each to his servants Benjamin Baker, William Marriot, Elizabeth Pratt and Ann How; - bequeathing 40/- each to his servants Daniel Cleverly and Sarah Clarke; - bequeathing mourning cloth to his children, grandchildren, brother and sister Draper and brother and sister Kingsley; - bequeathing £10 to his nephew and Godson George Draper the younger; - bequeathing £10 to his niece Elizabeth Draper, his late wife’s Goddaughter; - bequeathing £5 to his nephews and nieces Robert Draper, Ann his wife, Susanna Draper and Sarah Draper; - bequeathing £20 each to his grandchildren John Byde, son of his daughter Byde and George Sale son of his daughter Sale; - bequeathing the residue of his personal estate to his son George who he appointed sole executor; - witnesses: John Neeve; John Husbanse; George Draper; Ann Jackson; - proved in PCC 25 February 1697 [1698]
