- TitleInformation of John Heckford of Hockliffe, farmer: found his seven-year-old in-pig sow lying dead. She was black about the mouth, eyes and along the belly. He called in James Reed of Hockliffe, butcher, to dress the carcase and eventually sold it to William Deerman of Hockliffe, pig dealer, for 12s 6d "she was worth that for the fat". As Heckford lived at a public house the gates were often left open and the pig used to get out and sometimes got into the garden of Sylvester Butler of Hockliffe, tailor, who had complained to him. The fence adjoining the garden of Butler was in a bad state and belonged to the trustees for the Turnpike Road.
