Scope and Content
- devising to his father Mathew and mother Elizabeth for their lives: all freehold and copyhold land in Stotfold bought from George Wright; messuage in Stotfold where he dwelt; all his other real estate; remainder to his brother-in-law William Burton and Joanna, his wife for their lives; remainder to their children in default to the heirs of the survivor of William and Joanna Burton;
- bequeathing £200 to William Burton;
- bequeathing to his Godson and nephew James Burton, son of William, £20;
- bequeathing £20 to Thomas, son of his brother Mathew to put him out as apprentice, not to be paid into the hands of Mathew but remain with his executors until Thomas was placed apprentice;
- bequeathing £100 to his brother Mathew to be paid on the death of his father over and above any sums of money given him by Doctor Arthur, deceased;
- bequeathing £5 to his Goddaughter Anne, daughter of Edward Marshal of Baldock [Hertfordshire], innholder;
- bequeathing residue of his personal estate to his father;
- appointing his father and William Burton joint executors;
- witnesses: Mary Britten, Anne Fisher of Hitchin [Hertfordshire] [by mark] and William Sparhauke
