Scope and Content
Copy will of Edward Kitchener of Stotfold, yeoman:
- devising to his son William his cottage in Stotfold in Up End with a pightle of pasture adjoining; also a close of pasture lying next to the pightle all in occupation of Thomas Bently on condition that he pay his daughters Elizabeth and Frances £20 each in full discharge of a surrender of about ten acres of land in Stotfold made by testator’s son Edward Kitchener, deceased;
- devising his cottage in Green End, Stotfold to his granddaughter Frances (William’s daughter);
- devising to his grandson Edward (son of John Kitchener) four acres of arable in Stotfold;
- devising his dwellinghouse in Stotfold with orchard etc belonging to his daughter-in-law Alice (widow of Edward) for her life, remainder to his grandson Edward ;
- devising to his grandson Edward two acres, three roods of arable in Stotfold in occupation of Alice Kitchener;
- bequeathing to his granddaughter Anne £40 in discharge of the mortgage by conditional surrender made by Edward Kitchener, deceased to John Kitchener ;
- bequeathing to his granddaughter Anne his biggest chest, warming pan, one kettle and pair of good sheets;
- bequeathing to his grandson John a pair of good sheets and a kettle; bequeathing to John’s brother Edward a pair of sheets and a kettle;
- his daughter-in-law Alice to enjoy a pair of green curtains for her life, remainder to Edward Kitchener;
- bequeathing the residue of his personal estate to his son William;
- appointing his son William sole executor;
- witnesses: Edward Lawndy, John Plomer and Ann Plomer [by mark]
