  • Scope and Content
A carbon copy of a typewritten letter to Hannah Austin from Albert Grimmer dated 25th November 1935: "Dear Miss Austin, Many thanks for your letter to hand this morning enclosing P.O. for 5/- along with receipt. Again many thanks. The Grandson is quite O.K. was 18 months old the other day. We had a breakdown on a farm last Friday. I took the man out and the Grandson, he is a little terror, run about on the grass as fast as I could walk, though when I shut him up in the car he did not mind a bit. A week last Sunday, his Mother and Father and I along with our youngest Daughter, took an early morning run to Westminster Bridge to see the "Old Crocks Run". Friday's Autocar has a very good report on it. Mr. Shuttleworth of Old Warden Park did the run, not officially, but he was mentioned twice. He, Mr. Shuttleworth, is rebuilding both my old aeroplanes, he has nearly finished the Bleriot, so far spent about £200 on it. He and I are mentioned in "Flight" of the 7th inst. We have done a little business with him and hope to do bigger business. Expect Mrs. Field is glad to get away from the tie of Institution work, glad you have some good times together and hope it may long continue. Was awfully sorry to be out when you called once some time ago, should so much have liked to see you. No mistake time does seem to fly away. Last night Madge, the youngest, and I called on the Wolveridges. Mr. W. does not seem too grand, he seems to get rushes of heat and so feels bad, he had a turn soon after we got there, excitement I expect, and his nerves seem out of order as his hands twitch and he cannot hold still. He is not using his old car now, Douglas has an old one, but he seldom takes his own people out. Mr. Jeffs has given up the Registrar's job, but I believe he still does some work. Mr. Webber has been ill for some time, six or seven weeks I should think, have heard the trouble is dropsy, not officially though. We have had a lot of rain, though being on a hill do not get any flooding except Bedford way. It is bright and cold today like yesterday, should think it is general. You will tire of this, so will conclude with very best wishes, all that you could wish for yourself and your friends. Kindest regards, Yours faithfully,"
