Two photographs are captioned as follows:
1) 'Transdata etc...The central control panel supplied by Kent at the 500MW P.F. Cottam Power Station.'
2) 'The control room at the CEGB's 2,000 MW coal-fied Cottam power stattion near Retford in Nottinghamshire. Unlike most power station control rooms this one contains four separate unit consoles. Each unit comprises a semi-circular control desk, above which is the alarm fascia suspended from the ceiling. Behind each control desk stands a semi-circular instrument panel. All unit operation covering start-up, loading and shut-downs are carried out by the unit operator at the control desk.'
