Mr Yorke by his Will bequeaths the whole of his property to the Bishop of Ely and Mr C Yorke in Trust for Mr & Mrs Carew for their lives, and afterwards for their children, except the sum of £8,000 which is left to the separate disposal of Mrs Carew. By the codicil Mr Yorke gives £500 to each of his grandchildren to be laid out at interest until they attain 21 or marry with the consent of their parents or guardians. To the Bishop Mr Yorke gives the gold watch which was his Mothers, and to the Earl of Hardwicke his Burgage house in Reigate. There is a legacy to Mrs Baker of 100 guineas as a testimony of the testator's sense of her attention to Mr Carew andlegacies to servants. The Will is dated in July 1793 and the codicil last February. Mr Heaton has left with me a copy of the Will for your Ladyship's perusal but it is toolarge for the post. I have found it most convenient to postpone my journey into Wiltshire till after the sixteenth of October; it will then be moonlight which is an advantage at this season and I shall have an opportunity of attending the rent day. I have the honour to be, Madam, your Ladyship's obliged and faithful humble servant, Chas. H Ware.' [Believed to refer to the Will of John Yorke, son of Philip Yorke, 1st Earl of Hardwicke and uncle of the addressee, Amabel, Baroness Lucas. John Yorke died 4 September 1801.
