Letter from Roman S. Kornblit, sent from Odessa, Russia [now Ukraine]

With news from Russia and seeking financial assistance: They have been completely cut off from communication for two years and hunger and calamity have spread over the country. Famine in Odessa, the rising cost of living, collapse of transport network and closure of factories. He hopes an understanding between the Soviet and English governments will soon come but now he has no possibility of making a living. The American Relief Association have established a branch in Odessa but they only help those who have friends abroad to sponsor them. He hopes Mr Bates will send $10 via the Association offices in London and promises to repay him. He doesn't know anyone else abroad who may help him in this critical moment.
