Seeking assistance in finding opportunities to live and work in England: It has been two years since they last communicated and times have been very hard in Russia since the revolution. He left the Phoenix company and worked for a Swedish firm in Moscow for a time but lost everything when he had to leave suddenly to escape the Bolsheviks who sought to arrest him. He has been fighting them with the Estonian army for the past few months but hopes the war will soon be over. He has considered working for the British government as an agent in Russia but needs to improve his English. Would like Mr Bates to send information on schools, jobs and living conditions in London. Mr Huppens is in New York now but he has heard nothing of their old colleagues Mr Barsky and Mr Kornblit in Petrograd.
