- Scope and ContentThere are two terms of years in the tithe to the house at Burbage; originally created to secure money borrowed by way of mortgage. These terms should be assigned to trustees so that they do not merge in the inheritance. The practice is to make use of professional men for the purpose. The deed will direct the trustees to stand possessed of the terms and from time to time dispose of the same as the owner of the inheritance shall appoint. A small piece of ground at the back of the stable is copyhold and holden to Lady Lucas as lady of the Manor of Burbage; if the copyhold were to be surrendered generally to the use of Lady Lucas, it would in law be extinguished; it is therefore recommended that as Lady Lucas proposes to keep the property now purchased distinct, that the copyhold should also be surrendered to the use of a trustee. The writer has paid the annuitants, and has written to Mr Mourgue that he may receive the half year's rent and also asked him if Mr Lewis had ceeded to the proposal for a lease of the meadow. P.S. Mlle. Karcher was alive in August last 'Your ladyship will probably direct me to pay the years annuity to her.
