    Parties: (i) Robert Newland of Kempston, esquire; Nicholas Fitzpatrick of Bedford, esquire; Thomas Chandless of Lincoln’s Inn [Middlesex], esquire, barrister-at-law; Thomas Abbott Green of Pavenham, esquire; (ii) Robert Newland; (iii) William Pestell of Bedford, common brewer in co-partnership with (ii); (iv) Joseph Hill of Bedford, secretary to the trustees and managers of Bedford Savings Bank; (v) Theed Pearse the elder of Bedford, gentleman Reciting: - will of Sir William Long of Kempston Bury of 3 August 1841 appointing his sons-in-law Robert Newland, Nicholas Fitzpatrick and Thomas Chandless and friend Thomas Abbott Green as executors and trustees and devised to them his brewery in Bedford, Saint Paul and all hereditaments, including (a), upon trust for his daughter Mary Newland for her life, remainder to (ii) for his life with power of sale; - death of Sir William Long on 2 November 1841 and proof of his will on 22 March 1842 in PCC; - (a) was part of Sir William Long’s brewery estate at the time of his death; - articles of co-partnership of 29 September 1842 between (ii) and (iii), (iii) having been a partner of Sir William Long, as brewers, maltsters and farmers for 14 years Operative Part: - (iv) paid £830 to (i) at the request of (ii) and consent of (iii); - (i), by direction of (ii) and consent of (iii) revoked and made void all trusts etc in the will of Sir William Long concerning (a)-(c); - (i) by direction of (ii) and agreement of (iii) appointed (a)-(c) to uses; - (iv) paid 10/- each to (ii) and (iii); - (i), by direction of (ii) and agreement of (iii) released (a)-(c) to (iv); - (ii) and (iii) released (a)-(c) to (iv) Property: (a) piece of land in Bedford, Saint Paul, fronting S on Stonehouse Lane containing in width E-W on S side 24 feet, 6 inches; (b) yard and gateway lying on E side of (a); (c) messuage and buildings on (a) fronting Stonehouse Lane (formerly part of, with a messuage standing to E and extending over a gateway and sold by Sir William Long to John Rawlins, an ancient messuage through the centre of which there is a gateway (a)-(c) in occupation of Mary Abbott and bounded: N by messuage of Bedford Rooms Company in occupation of their secretary William Grey; E by messuage and buildings of John Rawlins; S by Stonehouse Lane; W by messuage of Miss Sarah Thomas subject to right of way by John Rawlins through gateway into the yard at the rear and occupation of pump of water on W side of yard Habendum: - to (iv), to uses of deeds of (iv), to the use of (iv) for life, to the use of (v) during the life of (iv), in trust for (iv), to the use of (iv) for ever Witnesses: - William Rogers of Bedford, solicitor; - Charles Long of 13 The Old Square, Lincoln’s Inn; - George Witt of Bedford, MD; - Thomas Brown, clerk of Pearse & Son of Bedford, solicitors; - Theed Pearse the younger of Bedford, solicitor
