Scope and Content
Various documents pertaining to the death of Eliza Annie Swaffield on 27th May 1928. These include:-
- the Probate document proving her last Will & Testament appointing her son Samuel Exton Swaffield as Executor, a copy of which is enclosed therein dated 1910, plus two handwritten amendments dated 1915 and 1919.
- an Inland Revenue Estate Duty form dated 25th August 1928, detailing the account of property chargeable with Estate Duty resulting from the Will, completed and signed by Samuel Exton Swaffield as Executor for his mother. Duty of £34 11s is stamped as being paid.
- an invoice to Samuel Swaffield as Executor from Francis R Handscomb, Undertaker and Funeral Furnisher of 14 Church Street, Ampthill in the sum of £15 2s 6d for funerary expenses. Stamped and signed as paid on 31st May 1928.
- an invoice to Samuel Swaffied as Executor from George Wildman, Monumental and General Mason of 19 Church Street, Ampthill in the sum of £3 12s 6d for cleaning and inscribing a memorial cross. Stamped and signed as paid on 6th July 1928.
- a receipt signed by James G S Syme from Francis Handscomb for "burial fees for Eliza Ann Swaffield" for £1 1s.
- a receipt signed on behalf of Swaffield & Son, headed "Ampthill House Estate", from Eva May Swaffield for £6 6s in respect of six months rent due to A H Wingfield Esq.
- a detailed invoice to Samuel Swaffield from Ryland & Co. of Windsor, relating to testamentory fees amounting to £43 16s 5d, stamped and signed as paid on 20th September 1928.
- two handwritten statements of account of the receipts and expenditure of the Exector, one for Miss Eva Swaffield and one for Mr A E Grimmer.
- a handwritten (in pencil) list of the household items, presumably of Eliza Annie Swaffield, grouped by room in the house.
