Appointment of New Trustees

Indenture between: (i) Mr Samuel John Swaffield of 76 Station Road, New Southgate, Middlesex, farmer and, (ii) Eliza Annie Swaffield of Ampthill, Bedfordshire, widow and, (iii) Mr Samuel Exton Swaffield of 12 Queen's Road, Windsor,Berkshire, civil servant, and Mr Albert Edward Grimmer of Ampthill, cycle agent, supplemental to the principal Indenture dated 19th June 1868 (marriage settlement of Benjamin George Swaffield and Eliza Annie Swaffield), appointing Samuel Exton Swaffield and Albert Edward Grimmer as new Trustees, replacing Henry Richard James Swaffield (deceased 21st april 1909) and Samuel John Swaffield ("desirous of being discharged from the Trusts"), with the original settlement amount of £1,200 now represented by Securities specified in the Schedule hereunder. Document signed by parties (i), (ii) and (iii) and witnessed by H Webber, solicitor's clerk to Mr Tanqueray of Ampthill. Further amendment made 6th February 1929 following the death of Eliza Annie Swaffield on 27th May 1928, effectively ending the Indenture and certifying that each of the beneficiaries have received certificates of Stock for £299 10s in 5% War Loan 1929-1949 in full satisfaction of their share of the settlement, signed by all beneficiaries. Included with this Indenture is a handwritten letter dated 10th January 1910 to Albert Grimmer from Samuel Exton Swaffield: "I have seen the Solicitors re taking charge of the documents relating to the Trust and they will do so and make no charge for storage. They have asked me to draw up the enclosed letter and get it signed by both of us, so that if they gave up the Deeds without our written authority we can count upon them for damages. They have also suggested that it would be wise for each of the Beneficiaries under the Trust to make wills stating therein how they wish their share of the Trust to be disposed of in the event of their death before their mother. They also say it will be absolutely necessary for both you and I to make wills as in the event of our death before Mother, the Executor of the survivor will have to act. Will you therefore make your own Will and see that Annie does so as well if you have not already done so. If you wish it, you can name me as an Executor, only let me know if you do so. Will you act with Jeannie as my Executor? Let me know soon, also let me have the enclosed letter back, signed where I have pencilled your name, as they will not take over the papers without this letter. I cannot say any more now, but hope you are all well."
