    A handwritten memoir by Joy Richards (nee Kathleen Joy Walker) of Park Street, Ampthill of her time growing up through the Second World War. The file had originally been compiled by Joy for use by her grandchildren for a school project. Joy has included her own recollections, copies of newspaper articles and photographs, and pictures and diagrams. Notable mentions include: evacuees in Ampthill, the Zonita cinema, absence of fathers, the Home Guard, prisoners of war in Ampthill Park, VE and VJ celebrations, children's games, wartime food, and identity cards. Joy includes a copy of a large photograph of the children and helpers gathered for a Victory party held at the Ampthill Drill Hall on 9th June 1945. Those invited came from Park Hill, Park Street, Brewery Lane, and Woburn Street as well as some evacuees still residing in the area.
