Scope and Content
A handwritten letter from Joan Pack to Lily and Nora Grimmer dated 2nd June 1974. It updates them on family news, especially surrounding the awarding of an honorary degree to Mary Pack for her services to the Canadian Arthritis and Research Society (CARS) from the University of British Columbia. Harry and Clara held a family party for Mary in celebration of the honour and the family had the opportunity to meet up with Tom Hodgson, who has been staying with Harry and Clara. Mary took her sister Jessie and niece Mary Lou to the degree ceremony, then attended an evening reception. The family all then got the chance to attend a luncheon given by the University President. The doctors at CARS are to hold a special dinner in Mary's honour too and she has been interviewed on television twice. Joan asks after Ena and Randall and tells of how much she is enjoying reading Andrew's book "Home Rule for Ampthill".
