    Reciting: Will of John Campbell, father of i), 31 October 1770 to wife, with remainder to daughters Eliza Maria and Charlotte Julia … freehold and copyhold property in Blunham (copyhold property having previously been surrendered to use of his will) wife appointed executor with codicil of 7 April 1772 whereby he revoked devises to said daughters, after death of mother, and devised said property to son John and then to daughters Will proved (Prerogative Court of Canterbury) on 7 July 1773 22 September 1775 said Susanna Campbell admitted tenant to copyhold property By lease and release of 29 and 30 May 1788 a) Eliza Maria Campbell b) Susanna c) John Campbell Codicil in will (as above) not attested by 3 witnesses so did not take effect. a) is 21 and desirous of fulfilling father's will, so released to c) all said property By lease and release of 11 and 12 May 1797 I) Charlotte Julia Campbell II) John Campbell I) is now 21, so releases property to II) By deed of 23 September 1797 (marriage settlement) A) John Campbell B) Henry Penruddocke Wyndham, esquire, Caroline Frances Campbell, wife of A), by her then name of Caroline Frances Wyndham, daughter of Henry C) Sir William Pierce, John A'Court, John Hungerford Penruddocke, William Rooke Leeds Serjeantson, John Payne property was settled no surrender was ever made of copyhold property By enclosure award of Blunham various lands were allotted to Susanna Campbell in lieu of rights of common By Court Baron of 8 May 1801 i) was admitted tenant to lands allotted to Susanna Campbell By Court Baron of 7 October 1826 recoveries were suffered of said copyhold lands comprised in settlement, i) was then admitted tenant By mortgage of 7 October 1826 1) John Campbell and John Henry Campbell 2) John Richardson and Fryer Richardson in consideration of £2,000 paid by 2) to 1) i) demised to 2) … said freehold property term - 1,000 years provision for John Campbell to surrender copyhold property By Court Baron of 7 October 1826, 1) in consideration of said £2,000 surrendered said copyhold property to use of 2) By lease and release of 16 and 17 October 1829 aa) John Campbell and John Henry Campbell bb) John Richardson and Fryer Richardson cc) Henry Benjamin Wyatt and James Wyatt dd) William Lake, gentleman aa) having occasion for £3,800 to enable them to pay off mortgage debt of £2,000 etc. have applied to cc) to lend them the money. in consideration of £2,000 to bb) paid by cc) and £1,800 to aa) a) releases to cc) … said freehold property copyhold property to be surrendered remainder of term of years assigned to dd) in trust at Court Baron of 12 November 1829 said premises surrendered cc) were not admitted to said copyhold premises By lease and release of 8 and 9 March 1831, mortgage was transferred to James Greenfield, late of Hampton Court, Middlesex, and John Illidge, West Brixton, Surrey Greenfield and Illidge have not been admitted to copyhold premises Reciting deed of 28 June 1834 [see X616/1 and X616/2] iii) has agreed with i) and ii) to purchase said freehold property and the copyhold property held of St John's Manor, subject to payment of £8 land tax and 40s per annum as quit rent, and discharged from payment of said £3,800 and interest, and surrender of 12 November 1829, at a cost of £4,250 which includes the timber it has been agreed that £3,960 shall be considered as purchase money for freehold property and timber, and £290 for copyhold property and timber iii) has requested iv) to lend him £2,250 which he has agreed to do upon having said sum secured by mortgage Greenfield and Illidge have declined to accept re-payment of said £3,800, so is agreed that said sum shall remain a charge on the estate and iv) should enter into covenant to pay said sum when due. agreement for sale to iii) is intended to be carried into effect by lease and release already in preparation NOW in consideration of - £2,000 to i) and ii) paid by iii) - £2,250 to i) and ii) paid by iv) at request of iii) i) and ii) release to iii) … Blunham House, with coach houses, stables, outbuildings etc. … orchard or piece of ground (2 acres) at back of said coachhouses etc. and cottage thereon … so much as is freehold of … pasture land now forming a lawn or paddock belonging to said house (17 acres) N.(part) and E. Blunham House E. (remaining part) River Ivel S. (part), W. (part) copyhold land, hereinafter described, and covenanted to be surrendered S. (remaining part) Stephen Thornton, in Mogerhanger W. (remaining part) road from Mogerhangr to Blunham this was formerly described as: - capital messuage - Lawlesses Close - cottage in occupation of John Boan (so much as was freehold) - The Spinneys (so much as was freehold) - several messuages or farmhouses (so much as was freehold) and sites where such of them stood as have been pulled down - 3 closes pasture adjoining (so much as was freehold) (9 acres) - Manor of Whitehouse - coachhouse and stable - Dovehouse Close, now forming part of the lawn (2½ acres) formerly the estate of i) to hold to uses for term of 1,000 years subject to redemption i) and ii) agree with iii) that at next Court for the St John's Manor, they will surrender into the hand of the Lord, to use of iii) …a plot of ground (mentioned above) (13 acres 1 rood 30 perches) including the footpath over the same in the South Field of Blunham N. and E. old enclosures of Susanna Campbell (being pasture land before descent, as part of lawn belonging to said Blunham House) S. Stephen Thornton, in Mogerhanger W. public road said piece of land is now laid together with said paddock and lawn to hold to intent that said Sir Peter Payne should be admitted tenant and he will surrender said copyhold property and will hold it in trust for iv) various arrangements for repayment of said sums and interest at 4% William Lake to hold property for remainder of term of 1,000 years to secure repayment Signatures of i) and another [illegible] Witnesses: John Whale, Exton; Edward Argles
