Correspondence from Mary Pack in Canada to Lily & Nora Grimmer in Ampthill:
1990: Five items. February: a letter updating Lily on Mary's niece Debbie, who is still nursing in the NW Territories in the Arctic. Mary also talks about how happy she is in her residential home.
2nd April: a letter reminiscing over her childhood in Ampthill. Mary has had some doctor friends from CARS [Canadian Arthritis and Rheumatism Society] in as guests for tea at her home. Her sister Joan is in hospital at the moment with an eye infection. George's son David has been made Telephone Superintendent for British Columbia.
6th April: a watercolour painting card [designed by Mary for CARS] sending Lily sympathy for "Nora's plight" and asking Lily to make sure she looks after herself too whilst she is caring for Nora. Joan is back in her nursing home. Joan's daughter-in-law Janice has broken her hip. Mary's brother George and his wife Simone are well and are very good to Mary.
24th November: a watercolour painting Christmas card. Mary urges Lily to seek some help in looking after Nora, as Mary herself did when she was caring for her mother. She also talks about why she gave up driving and about car accidents she had in the past. In family news, Debbie has returned from the Arctic Circle and is seeking a nursing position in Vancouver. Peggy and Mary Lou, Jessie's daughters, phone Mary often.
December: a letter sending Christmas greetings and talking about a Bach concert she attended.
1992: One item. January: a watercolour painting card telling Lily of Joan's death. Mary is missing her badly. Her brother George drove Mary up to visit Joan and her family before she died. Mary spent the New Year at George and Simone's house. Her niece Debbie is back in Vancouver doing research work and visits with Mary often.
There is also an undated, unwritten watercolour painting Christmas card in this file with a small colour photograph of Mary.
