    i) John Godden, St George's Terrace, St George, Hanover Square (devisee under will of John Mansell Smith, Harley Street, St George, Hanover Square, Middlesex, late of Park Place, St James', Middlesex, esquire deceased) ii) James Eland Hobson, Courland, Clapham, Surrey, and of Great Surrey Street, Blackfriars Road, Surrey, esquire reciting will of John Mansell Smith, dated 3 January 1827 devised all his freehold estates in Eaton Socon (and in Buckinghamshire and Norfolk) to Right Honourable William Charles, Earl of Albemarle, and John Calvert of Albury Hall, Hertfordshire, esquire, on trust for use of John Godden, then aged 11 years and who was baptised at St Marylebone, Middlesex, on 15 September 1815, and his heirs. John Mansell Smith died on 1 August 1827 leaving John Godden who attained 21 on 29 August 1836 now in consideration of £1,980 paid to i) by ii) i) releases to ii) - messuage or farmhouse in Eaton Socon now divided into 2 cottages and in the occupations of Charles Medlow and --- Asplan - homestall near to said messuage and barn, outbuildings and orchard and close adjoining (4 acres 3 roods 10 perches) part Town Street or Great North Road from London to York other part Bunny or Bunhill Lane or White Horse Lane further part Duke of Bedford other part next described allotment other part ancient inclosures of Duke of Bedford, Thomas Franklin and others - plot of land in Backside Field (33 acres 1 rood 30 perches) East: last described close and other ancient enclosures South and part South West: Duke of Bedford South West (remaining part): Duke for vicarial tithes North (part): Mary Hoare now James Eland Hobson North (part) and East: Sarah Buxton now Samuel Parker said piece of land was awarded by inclosure commissioners to John Mansell Smith (now deceased) except a cottage, garden and close called Lane Close (1 acre 32 perches) in Acreman Street in Eaton Socon lately sold by i) to John Hobson, miller signature of i) endorsed: receipt witnesses: Nevile day, William Cox
