Holmefield, 134 London Road, Biggleswade, was built in 1952 to replace a home in an older house in the town. In July 1970 it had space for 11 boys of school age but an extension was then being built that would increase capacity to 16 boys and girls.
Unit review carried out December 1988 (SS/DO2/3/1) records Holmefield Children's Home as a 16 bedded with medium to long term residents. Care on traditional lines with little scope for real independence training.
The home closed in 1992.
