Manor Farm Children's Home, Sandy

Manor Farm Children’s Home for girls and boys was situated at 76 London Road , Sandy , and opened in June 1949. Information about the running of the Home can be found in the Biggleswade and Sandy Children’s Home Sub-Committee ( CH/Sub 3/2 ) for the years 1949-1956, and the Bedford Children’s Homes and Hostel Sub-Committee [ later the Northern Children’s Home Management Sub-Committee ] ( CH/Sub 3/8 ) for the years Jul 1956-Feb 1970. From 1974 the Home was under the Social Services Committee and was eventually closed circa late 1992 / early 1993. The building was later used by a charity supported by the county council, Christian Family Care, as a care centre.
